Basic Bread Course
Take the basic bread baking course and learn the basics about baking bread in small classes in London and around the UK
Currently we have classes in West London, Leicester, North London, Berkshire and North Norfolk.
During the four hour bread baking course, students will learn the practicalities and principles of how to make a basic, delicious loaf of bread. We will proof yeast, knead the dough, be amazed that it rises, shape it, bake it and admire it when it comes out of the oven, golden and perfect to take it home with you.
You will learn to bake bread with wheat, spelt or rye flour (or a combination!) and you will also learn to bake soda bread, some of which we will eat for lunch. This is not a demonstration! This is a hands on bread baking course in which you will do the baking yourself so come prepared to get sticky and floury. Class sizes are limited so that you will have plenty of time to learn and plenty of attention from the teacher.
A simple, elegant lunch will be served and tea, coffee, good cheer and chatter will be available throughout the sessions. Class number are limited so you are in a cosy atmosphere where you can ask lots of questions and receive lots of individual attention.
The cost for the Basic Bread course is £60.00.

Baked bread 35years ago when pregnant and need to vent frustrations with morning sickness. Would like to do it again but live in North Yorkshire therefore not near your courses. Do you have a book of recipes?

Hi Cynthia, I will copy an e mail to you on this one too....I don't have a book (although am writing one) but if you click on the virtuous network link you will find an approach to making bread and lots of wonderful recipes that have been given to me from various bakers. I have tried all of them and they all work! Let me know if you don't find what you are looking for/if you are looking for anything speciall and I can certainly see how I can help. Thanks, Jane

What a good idea! I would love to think up a Mommy's and Toddlers version of your course - it would have to be WAY shorter to hold two-year-old attention, but they would so love the hands-on part and the process, let alone the eating!

Dear Margaret, thanks for your comment. Oe could make dough that parents take home with them and bake at home? Then whip out ready prepared bread dough and bake in little buns (20 mins). Not really a bread class per se but if you look at a post entitled somethng like "easiest bread in the world" you will find a recipe you could use for the making and the (here's one I prepared earlier) baking. If you cannot find it, let me know!
